With zest, to remember

This little piece here is an article i wrote for the Writers' Circle of my college for our issue during the cultural fest. Go NITT!

The Fest to Remember has been, for a while, plagued with banter of a re-christening. Aided by only-too-willing sponsors, certified numerologists and the student populace, we’ve shortened the list to a few names that capture the magical spirit of Festember and still manage to sound interesting:

Dept.-ember: Originally an idea for NITTfest that found its way into our book. Adds another dimension to the fest and paves the way for more fights outside The Barn.

Ineptember: Humble coordinators felt the need to lay the facts bare. Also prevents lawsuits by disgruntled sponsors.

Feistember: Hints at the spirited participation from the fairer sex. Idea axed due to bureaucratic disapproval.

Feastember: Idea that came up during debate over the food court issue. Tiruchee Mess Annas’ Welfare Socirty vetoed the plan.

Heptember: Suggestion by alumnus Biggus Dickus based on his Roman origins. It is purported to be the spiritual successor to the Fest in September.

Pestember: Suggestion by NRIs taking inspiration from the biological diversity on campus.

Sleptember: Name coined by participant when asked to comment on Workshops @ Festember.

Cryptember: Meant to be a burial for the entire concept. Blamed for wet dreams of number-cracking nerds.
